STREET STYLE: New York Fashion Week

This post should have been named 'How To Dress Fashionably When It Is Freezing' because I have no idea how people step outside in minus temperatures, let alone look chic whilst doing it! Below are my favourite street style shots from the recent New York fashion week.

fashion, look, ootd, outfit, green faux fur jacket
Olive green faux fur + white roll neck = sartorial perfection

look, outfit, ootd
Teddy bear vibes with the camel ensemble and textured fur jacket.

look, outfit, ootd
Flared sleeves and wide leg trousers? A man repeller outfit for sure but terribly chic. And this shade of blue is spring-like and uplifting.

look, outfit, ootd
How to make a beaded dress work for day? Wear over jersey midi number and pair with slip-on trainers.

look, outfit, ootd
I love everything about this look: all black, leather, fishnets, garter... the list goes on. Possibly the coolest look of NYFW.

look, outfit, ootd
A very masculine, undone look which screams French fashion blogger (perhaps it's the cigarette?) the bold lip also drew me to this particular shot.

look, outfit, ootd
This spotty shaggy coat is a statement number despite its neutral tones. The black patent boots weirdly coordinate with the umbrella - the perfect style inspiration for London!

look, outfit, ootd
I love the grandma-vibe of this ensemble courtesy of the midi skirt, tights and strappy shoes. However the beanie and bold lip give the look a youthful edge.

look, outfit, ootd, leandra medine, man repeller
This is possibly the best rainwear I have ever seen - a dramatic black patent long-line coat. Of course it's worn by Leandra.

look, outfit, ootd, bustier, layers
Nonchalant layering with a bustier involved? I wish I had the wardrobe for this mish-mash styling.

look, outfit, ootd, models off duty, braids
And I had to finish with this smiley image of models-off-duty. I love the layers, the braids with a bit of faux fur thrown in.

Thank you New York for your varied style inspiration. Which look was your favourite?

'LOVE ME BEAUTY' Subscription Box

fashion blogger, flat lay, beauty, fairy lights
I recently got my ELLE subscription renewed for Christmas and was ecstatic to be reunited with my favourite magazine when it dropped through the door this month. A subscriber offer for February was a beauty box from Love Me Beauty for £1. I've never tried out any of the beauty subscription boxes before so was intrigued.

flat lay, fashion blogger, jewellery, bracelet, skincare, dry shampoo
For this particular company, you get 60 points per month to spend on a selection of products which are 10 to 20 points each. I decided to go for a moisturiser, cleanser, moisturising mask, dry shampoo and bracelet (all pictured above). It came within 3-5 business days, which for a luxury product I thought should be quicker - especially as I am the impatient type! However I did like the packaging and the beauty 'Journal' it came with.

In comparison to my regular dry shampoo from Batisse, I found this product to have a pleasant, non-obtrusive scent. I liked how it didn't feel heavy on the hair and there wasn't any residue left on the fingers. My hair also remained shiny instead of becoming dull which can happen with certain dry shampoos. However I'm not convinced that this would liven up absorb all the oil. Good for my second day hair but no further. On another note I found the spray quite hard to operate - maybe I have a particularly stiff bottle?

LMB Silver Bracelet
chain, arrowhead detail, jewellery, fashion blogger, accessories
I chose this bracelet as it was something different to the other products and I'm glad that I did! I love it's elegant shape with a simple detail, in a beautiful shiny silver. It looks lovely on its own but I could stack it with other chains or a chunky silver watch. The only negative I have to say is that the chain is quite long, so dangles when fastened on but I guess this element makes the design inclusive.

nuxe creme prodigieuse moisturising cream, fashion blogger, skincare
I enjoyed using this moisturiser. I put it on before my make up and my primer and foundation applied well over it. My skin remained hydrated throughout the day, which is pretty good as my skin gets pretty dry this time of year. It had a pleasant but noticeable scent, which is probably because I'm not used to wearing it. So I doubt this would be suitable for more sensitive skins due to the fragrance.

Nuxe facial cleanser and make up remover gel, reve de miel, fashion blogger, skincare
This cleanser is for dry, sensitive skin which is good for my current skin, which is on the dry side of normal. I do love it's marmalade colour, and I really enjoyed its nice scent, which was similar to the Nuxe moisturiser but slightly stronger. It was foaming enough to see where it was on the skin but not so much to think it was a fad. It left skin feeling soft rather than stripped and I preferred it to my regular Simple cleanser.

MONU Hydrating Mask
monu hydrating mask, skincare, fashion blogger, sample size
I've never tried a hydrating mask before, so was excited to slather this on my face. It has a very mild scent, which is good as it is sits beneath the nose for 15 minutes. The mask wasn't too scary looking (unlike my fave coffee mask), once applied it was a thin layer of white atop the skin. It washed off easily and left my skin feeling extremely soft and smooth - very impressed. The packaging, however, was awful. It was neither a squeezy tube or a pot so I had to quite forcefully bang the product out into my hand. Although I believe the full size product comes in a squeezy tube, so if you're in the market for a moisturising mask I'd go for that.

Overall I was pleased with the quality and variety of products I received. I'd like to try out other beauty subscription boxes in the future as it allowed me to test high end products without the hefty price tag. My favourites were the Nuxe cleanser and the Monu mask which I may repurchase in the future.

Have you tried any subscription boxes? Would you recommend?

February 2016 Wish List // The Outnet

lust list, fashion blogger, style, accessories, lingerie, alexander wang, helmut lang, shoes, handbag
ALICE + OLIVIA sweater | HELMUT LANG ankle boots | MARIA BLACK gunmetal bracelet | MIMI HOLLIDAY BY DAMARIS bra | HELMUT LANG suede pumps | ALEXANDER WANG tote

I found myself on The Outnet recently, and was once again amazed by the plethora of designer product at marked-down prices. I found myself bookmarking (old-fashioned, I know) several pieces even though they were still out of my budget. Still, it gives me hope that I will be able to fill my closet with beautiful clothes when I have graduated and am working full-time. Anyway I thought as I can't buy them now, I'd share them in a wish list.

First up is this beautiful sweater from Alice + Olivia, which I fell for due to its beautiful shade of mushroom pink (noticed my pink obsession recently?) I also like it's cropped sleeves (cute AND practical). The piece is styled on the website with a leather pencil skirt, which is exactly how I'd wear it so naturally I was sold.

I saw a pair of white cowboy boots from Louis Vuitton recently and couldn't take my eyes off them. This pair are a more wearable style yet still have the wow factor of it's bright white colour. They are also much more affordable than the Vuitton pair - a clear winner in my eyes.

This bracelet is the perfect example of how I like my jewellery - simple, slightly edgy and definitely not girly. I also love how it is a mixture of chain and cuff styles, and manages to include sharp features in it's simple design.

This bra is gorgeous... I love the effect of the black eyelash lace over a base of the palest pink. The back of the bra is sheer black, which means it will be appropriate for tops that have a translucent panel at the back. The bra strap also changes from pink to black to match this. If you're quick (because everything sells out super fast) The Outnet would be a good place to check out for good quality lingerie at less horrifying prices (this was originally £60) and will definitely be something I'll look into for future underwear purchases.

Let's just take a moment for these shoes. Firstly, they're pink. Their black interior and soles compliment this colour choice and give the pair a modern feel, as does the zip detailing at the back of the shoe. The pump style means they will go with everything - jeans, a good skirt (I'm thinking flared midi) or will liven up a pair of black trousers. I've never thought about Helmut Lang shoes before, but the fact that both pairs featured in this wish list are by the same designer definitely says something!

Finally, we come to this classic bag from Alexander Wang. It is the perfect shape and style to carry all your daily essentials (which for me, is a lot of crap). The base is covered in Wang's signature studs which would maintain the shape and protect the base whilst being a stylistic feature. This particular bag is made of heat-sensitive leather, which I imagine does something cool... maybe change colour? I have no idea but if you do, let me know in the comments.

P.S. I picked these items close to publishing this post, but as this is on The Outnet, pieces can be sold out fast so apologies if any of the above items are out of stock.
