TREND WATCH: The A-Line Skirt

One trend that I have been eyeing up this season is the A line skirt. This piece is easily integrated into most wardrobes due to its femininity and simplicity. It can be worn for day (see street style above) and is easily transitioned for night. I also love how this style isn't at risk of flying up in the wind like a skater style or will rise up slowly as you walk (I'm looking at you, tube skirt).

A line skirts were seen on the SS15 catwalks, in varying styles and interesting textures. The eye is drawn to the front of the skirt with the use of zips or buttons. Firmer fabrics such as denim, suede and leather were favoured. Lengths also varied, from panty-skimming to midi style.

Whilst the skirts on the catwalk are gorgeous, I've scoured the high street to compile a wish list that is more budget-friendly.

I'd tuck a casual white shirt into the denim skirt for a cute daytime look. For colder nights, I'd wear a poloneck top with the Zara or ASOS skirt. I'd pair the white zip front and red suedette skirts with a crop top, perhaps an off-the-shoulder piece.

What do you think of this trend? Will you be donning an A line skirt next time you go to the pub?

July Wish List

wishlist, fashion, beauty, blogger
YSL rouge pur couture lipstick | ASOS glitter iphone 5 case | TOBI beatnik lace up dress | TOPSHOP mini v panel holdall | THE WHITE COMPANY blanc 3-wick candle | TOPSHOP tie front top

Another month, another wish list and what I'm lusting after in July is pretty random. Nevertheless they're all pretty and isn't that the defining factor of a blogger wish list?

First up is this lipstick from YSL Beauty. Anyone that knows me well can vouch for my obsession with lipstick. If you're feeling down, nothing boosts your confidence like a slick of bold lippy. I love the shade, called Golden Dusky Pink, but I love the brown and nude tones. Plus the gorgeous packaging is always a bonus.

I've seen glitter waterfall cases all over the internet, and have wanted one for ages, but they all seemed to come from abroad and charge ridiculous shipping costs. So when I discovered this one on ASOS I fell in love. I have to confess that I've already ordered it and am eagerly awaiting its arrival.

This dress from Tobi is perfect for now. The lace up detail channels the 70s trend, whilst the dress itself is cool enough to wear with sandals in the current heat.

How cute is this mini bag from Topshop? I love the structured style of the handle and V panel front. The pop of pastel blue is perfect for the summer and a bag is a good way to integrate colour into an outfit.

This candle from The White Company is super luxurious. It's huge, which means it will last ages with 3 wicks. Also white is one of my favourite colours at the moment, I love it's clean chicness. So this candle satisfies my needs nicely.

Finally, I chose this crop top from Topshop. Again it's tie front and white (notice a pattern?) I know it will work well with a lot of pieces in my wardrobe, and at £12 it's a no brainer. It also comes in loads of other colours if white isn't your thing but you're digging the 70s trend.

Safari Summer Club at Brent Cross

Earlier this week I was invited to a blogger event called Safari Supper Club, to ahowcase the array of food and drink available at Brent Cross shopping centre. Brent Cross has been my go-to shopping centre since I was little as its based in North West London. It's the perfect size, big enough to house many of my favourite high street brands but not dauntingly huge like Westfields.

The first stop was Oh You Pretty Things, which is a champagne and cocktail bar. I got to make my own Pornstar Martini (with the help of the mixologist) which was pretty exciting and I think it turned out quite well!

The mixologist also made us a passionfruit mojito which was a delicious twist on the classic (one of my favourite cocktails), which I was more than happy to sample. Oh You Pretty Things is the perfect place to stop pre-dining or after an exhausting day shopping with the girls.

Next up was Gourmet Burger Kitchen. I'd seen different GBKs in London but had never eaten at one before, although I've heard good things. I ordered a Califorian burger (a homemade bean patty, with cheddar, avocado, harissa mayo, onions and relish salad in a brioche bun) with a side of sweet potato fries.

Overall, I really enjoyed the food. Despite being a meat eater I went for the veggie option and thought the bean burger was delicious as were the toppings. The sweet potato fries were satisfying long and I particularly liked the Hei Hei salt. Regrettably I couldn't finish as it was super filling but I would recommend GBK to any burger fans!

The last stop was Patisserie Valerie, which is hidden away in Fenwick so I had never come across it before. Their array of cakes and pastries are incredibly pretty - such a feast for the eyes. Due to my fullness from the previous burger, I chose a strawberry gateau to takeaway. Strawberries and cream is one of my favourite combinations, so naturally the gateau didn't disappoint!

Overall, my experience of dining at Brent Cross was really enjoyable. I got to eat and drink delicious, pretty things and learnt to make a cocktail! I also got to learn about the Brent Cross PLUSapp, which notifies you about exclusive discounts in both food and fashion outlets as you walk around the shopping centre. If you're in the North London area I would recommend stopping for a bite to eat post-shopping.

My Favourite Fashion Blogs on Tumblr

I've been using Tumblr for over 3 years now and in that space of time I have created (and deleted) 6 separate blogs with varying degrees of success. Without a doubt it is my favourite social media platform, so I'd thought I'd share some of my favourite fashion blogs on Tumblr.

vogue, monochrome, fashion, blog
I probably reblog the most from Vogue and Valium because I love the selection of catwalk images. The style of the compiled images are mainly black and lots of textures are featured, for example leather and lace.

A gorgeous collection of monochrome street style, quotes, flat lays and beauty. Clean, beautiful and inspiring.

The images in this theme are satisfyingly large, demonstrating the chic compilation of monochrome style and accessories. There is a focus on structured bags, designer labels and tailoring.

Monochrome, Fashion, Style, Tumblr This chic blog has a focus on metallics and textures, along with quotes and beautiful buildings.

Fashion, Monochrome, Blog I feel that this blog focuses on the beautiful people that wear the clothes as well as the fashion itself. This appeals to me as I find people and beauty fascinating. I also enjoy the playlist.

I also thought I'd show my current 3 Tumblr blogs, which may seem a little excessive, but they all serve a purpose and I love making blogs and reblogging inspiring images.

Gasp, Personal, Tumblr, Blog, Aya Oguri, Girl From North London
First up is my personal blog, which is where I compile everything that I like. The URL is named after an unreleased song by Lana Del Rey, Go Go Dancer. At the moment my blog features a lot of neon artwork, Lana and fur.

Glitter Binge/Glitter Gangsta is my blog dedicated to my obsession with glitter and sparkly things! I do take care to curate the images to my taste, as there are many sparkly pictures on Tumblr and it can be easy to reblog them all! Submissions are open for this blog, so if you'd like your work with glitter to be featured, please submit!

Finally we have Girl From North London, a Tumblr page I created to accompany this blog. This page inspires looks and basically is an ongoing moodboard for my aspirational style.

If you have a Tumblr blog, or admire someone else's, please comment below so I can check them out!
