TREND WATCH: Seventies Vibes

Seventies, 70s, fashion, style

The biggest trend for SS 15 has to be 70s, and it's all about suede, statement denim and floppy hats.

Many of the catwalks such as Saint Laurent and Gucci featured 70s inspired looks. Fringing, lace-up blouses and disco platforms were added to the mix to create a throw-back bohemia atmosphere.

Naturally I've been stalking the high street for a less pricey translation of the trend, and here is a wish list!

All these pieces are totally wearable, and perfect for the coming months. My favourites have to be the denim tie-front dress and the suede disco platforms.

Summer Dreaming... My Picks for the Beach

On a particularly gloomy day in London I can't help but fantasise of ocean waves, sun loungers and cocktails on a tropical island far far away. Whilst this is far from my reality, I can still pick out outfits for my dream holiday. Plus, its practically sensible to buy swimwear now as its always sold out by June.

Bikini, swimsuit, kaftan, swimwear

I love the high-neck of this bikini from Topshop, as it gives off a nineties vibe and adds covers the cleavage in a chic manner. If my stomach is on show, I like to balance it out, and this two piece is perfect for the job. The monochrome print is right up my street and is bold without being brash.

Triangl bikinis are everywhere I know, but I love the design of the Milly set. The neoprene is also super flattering and the sheen reminds me of leather. Perfect for those biker chicks.

This leopard print swimsuit may not be everyone's cup of tea but it was love at first sight for me. One pieces are more elegant than bikinis in my opinion, but this one shows off a little skin with the cutout at the waist. I would normally never wear leopard by the pool but this blown-up, spaced design is refreshing.

This kaftan from Topshop is the perfect cover up for the beach, especially over a black bikini. The deep v-neck reveals whats underneath and gathered front adds shape.

Finally I chose this swimsuit from The Minimale Animale, which is a little out of my budget but I had to include it because I've been eyeing it up for so long. The mesh fabric shows some skin, and the appliqué seashells give a mermaid vibe.

TREND WATCH: The Sleeveless Blazer

Images from pinterest.com

As per usual, I've been stalking Pinterest for street style, and one trend that has caught my attention is the sleeveless long-line blazer. Surprisingly versatile, its the perfect transition piece for the move into warmer weather.

For cooler days, I would pair it with a shirt or jumper to prevent blue arms. Or I'd throw it over a shift dress and heels for drinks in the summer. Alternatively, it can be dressed down by wearing it over the classic jeans-and-a-T-shirt.

I've scoured the shops to come up with the best selection of sleeveless jackets from the high street.

One of these pieces will work its way into my spring wardrobe. The question is: khaki or camel?

Lingerie Picks | 15.03.15

Nothing like a relaxing Sunday to spend time online shopping and ogling underwear. I spent a couple of hours browsing my favourite websites (and some new ones) and have compiled a new lingerie wish list!

First is this delicate navy blue bralette from By Jody Shafton which I chose because I love the patterns in the lace. I love sheer triangle bras at the moment, as they are super comfortable yet elegant.

These undies from With Love Lilly are the perfect red, but I picked them because of the multiple bands. They add a seductive point of interest to this pair.

It was love at first sight when I came across this For Love and Lemons bralette. The nude palette with a pop of red from the lace appliqué is a perfect combination. The criss-cross bands at the base hug the ribcage to give a bondage-esque feel.

Cheekyfrills oh-so-comfortable underwear is worn by some very famous behinds. And made from Modal, the briefs tick the eco-friendly box. Perfect for everyday, I think the simplest styles can be the most flattering. And if they're good enough for Cara, they're good enough for me!

High-necked bras and bikinis are a relatively new trend, but one I intend to follow. Covering the cleavage is so refreshing. This lacy black one from New Look was an unexpected find on ASOS, as I've never considered NL for lingerie before. It could even be worn as a crop top, paired with mom jeans or high-waisted denim cut-offs in the summer.

TREND WATCH: Lace-Up Shoes

Images from pinterest.com

One shoe trend that has caught my attention recently is lace-up heels. Many street style looks from the recent fashion month featured a variation of the lace-up. They are more versatile than you'd think - they look great with ankle skimming trousers, mom jeans or a bare-legged with a skirt.

They were featured in many of the SS 15 shows, like Chloé and Rodarte. And looking forward to the AW 15 catwalks, it seems that this trend will stay for the colder months.

So I've compiled a lil' selection of lace-up shoes for y'all to suit varying budgets:

I'm definitely going to have get my hands on a pair (or two) of these ASAP. I seriously need them in my life.

Saint Laurent AW 15

Yves Saint Laurent has been one of my favourite designers since I became seriously interested in fashion about 5 years ago. I loved his designs for Dior (the trapeze dress) and for his own label (Le Smoking).

Now Hedi Slimane has taken the helm, Saint Laurent has embraced its rebellious, rock chick edge and it is oh-so-cool. If I could wear one label for the rest of my life it would be YSL. The fishnets and ripped tights are so me, not to mention the leather and all-over black. A male model friend once said to me: "I went to a brand that was very Aya today... All black." When he revealed that it was Saint Laurent I almost died.

I anticipate the YSL show every season, and last night was no disappointment. I loved the mini dresses with panty skimming slits, the shaggy fur and leopard prints. I particularly liked the leather trousers with cut-outs up to the thighs, paired with a sheer blouse *free the nipple* And of course there were gorgeous tuxedo suits.

On the accessories front, pointed black boots ruled the catwalk. Most were in a sleek, ankle height style, and some were piled with chains, but my favourites had to be the thigh highs with zip detailing. Most looks were without bags - the Saint Laurent girl is too cool to carry - but I came across this little beauty with netting... need

On a beauty side-note: it was all about the Siouxsie Sioux eyes and lips were full and red.

I'm going to find my shredded fishnets. Can't wait for the next show in September.

March Wish List

The start of a new month means a new wish list, and thank God it also looks like Winter might be on its way out.

I came across this gorgeous candle holder when I was browsing the H&M home website (unexpectedly nice btw). It looks pretty even without a candle, but with one lit, the floral cut out will cast atmospheric shadows over the surrounding space.

As always, I had to include lingerie. A friend sent me a link to the By Jody Shafton website and naturally I spent a while swooning over her products. This bra is delicately beautiful with the use of eyelash lace, and I would wear it under a sheer black chemise. I also like how its from an independent brand, I want to wear different intimates to the Victoria's Secret masses.

With Easter coming up, this bunny eared ring from The Rogue and The Wolf is appropriately festive. However this ring is too adorable to need a special occasion to be worn. Pair with a handful of rings, or wear on its own as a statement piece.

Temperatures are (slowly) going up, which has got me looking at Spring coats. I love this lightweight navy trench from Zara. Its simplicity means you could throw it over any outfit, but the length adds drama.

This cement coloured nail varnish feels perfect for my current mood. I'm loving muted greys at the moment and this colour would compliment either a office chic or a feminine getup.

I love these ankle boots from Public Desire. The smooth leather and sleek shape give a smart vibe, whilst the peep-toe and buckle detailing add interest. I would pair them with a fresh pedicure (using the OPI) and cigarette pants.
