New Look has been a surprising new discovery of mine. I was browsing through my local store and found this dress. It's wool content and roll neck make it a super warm yet smart piece and I have been wearing it loads recently. Dresses for daywear are another new discovery, as they're so simple to style, meaning morning dramas over getting dressed have been reduced!

Cold weather means the over knee boots come out, and I think they go well with the dress - its length exposes only the smallest portion of skin. So I refrain from swamping myself in material without freezing to death! I've also got on one of my favourite pairs of earrings on, which are super heavy but worth it for their aesthetic. Finally I threw on my trusty cocoon coat and Zara handbag.

Paris in Rome: Chanel Pre-Fall 2016

So the Chanel Métiers D'art show happened on Wednesday, this time in Rome, and I really enjoyed it. I don't normally talk about Chanel shows as the social media hype makes me switch off and their collections (although beautiful) just don't fit in with my personal style. However at the sight of lacy stockings and black leather I was on the Vogue Runway website the minute I got in from uni. I thought I'd select my favourite looks from the show, although with 80 looks(!) it was hard to narrow it down.

This look is full on yet simple. A slightly sheer black jumper and a skirt with a coat tied around the waist. However the skirt is patent leather, the coat covered in chiffon and ruffles the accessories are lace stockings and pearl embellished pumps. Luxurious but not try hard.

How bloody gorgeous is this? An ankle length slip in a clingy ribbed material, with white lace inserts topped with an oversized check coat. I love the sheen of the outerwear fabric, and this beautiful offering of sleepwear for day use is too good to be true.

This look has a rock and roll vibe, emphasised by the teased beehive and dramatic liner. Lagerfeld ingeniously takes the quilted leather used in their famous handbags and transforms it into a two piece. I love the boxy shape of the skirt which emphasises the hips, whilst the lace softens the garments. Plus I always fall for the flash of midriff between a crop top and high waisted skirt.

The lengthening effect that the pleats on this dress has is so elegant and with the golden nude colour it has a grecian feel. The choker with its masses of looping pearls shrouding the shoulders screams decadence, giving a regal air to this look.

I adore this oversized leather coat with statement buttons casually thrown over the shoulders. The dress underneath is relatively demure, but the silver ring at the waist and massive hoops on the ears add an element of kink.

I'm not a tailored two-piece kinda girl but this look makes me want to be! I just love the muted grey colour, and the print which works well with it. The trousers are a beautifully flattering shape and the black accents on the blazer lapel and cuffs are such a chic addition.

This jumper reminds me of the cropped knitwear seen at the Dior Spring 2016 show, through the pattern and colours used. But what drew me to this look was the ankle length leather skirt which I would rock if I was daring enough!

The Chanel Métiers D'art show cleverly appears when we are in a fashion show drought, and gives their fans new images to gasp over and products to save up for. It also brings excitement to cities where their workshops are based, which I think is a wonderful way to pay tribute to their artisans globally.

December Wish List

lust list, autumn winter, reiss, ysl wallet, steve madden handabg, topshop motel slip, sunglasses, knitwear
REISS shearling aviator jacket | CHEAP MONDAY leopard sunglasses | NEW LOOK high neck jumper | STEVE MADDEN bgrand handbag | MOTEL meadow slip dress | SAINT LAURENT line leather wallet

December is here! I'd love to enjoy this festive month but with the pressure of deadlines looming, presents to buy and work being busier and crazier than ever (I work part-time in a well-known British coffee chain) I haven't been able to stop and do all of that lovely traditional stuff. Hopefully it will calm down soon and I can drink mulled wine to my heart's content. This is also my pathetic explanation for the drop in blog posts - sorry! Onto the wish list...

I spotted this shearling aviator jacket on InTheFrow's blog and fell in love. I have been on the hunt for a black one for a while, but this muted grey number is a gorgeous alternative (also available in blush pink btw). It would go with absolutely anything - skinny jeans, a skirt, over a party dress - and keep you toasty warm in this bitter weather. At £895 it is out of my price range, but a girl can dream right?

Next up is a product that may be seen as more summer-appropriate. But I am a great believer in that sunglasses can be worn all year round. We do get those crisp, bright days in the UK where you are freezing to death yet still squinting in the sun. So these are totally justified. And if I drove, I would use that excuse too! I'm lusting after this particular pair due to the unique leopard print and blue lens combination. I also love the circle shape as I've found that this suits my face shape.

I tried this jumper on in New Look but it was too big (I'm a size 8-10 and put on a 12 out of desperation), then tried it on in the right size (8 if you're curious) but in blue. So naturally I've been regularly checking in on the website to see if they have it in stock. They haven't for the last week. So I'll list the reasons I love it to make it more painful:
1. It's a beautiful charcoal grey
2. It's high-necked (on-trend and cosy)
3. It's cropped (I like to pair high waisted and cropped pieces to focus on the waist - a lot of my looks are based on this)
4. Looks a lot more expensive than it is and...
5. I am in desperate need of knitwear as I don't have any and its f***ing freezing out there

I saw this Steve Madden bag on a recent 'What's In My Bag' on Lily Melrose's channel and was checking it out on a new tab faster than you can say "links in the description". I love the combination of silver studs and black leather (check out this OOTD for proof) and it's size, which sits somewhere between a bag for your phone and lipstick and a bag for carrying your laptop plus several folders around in. I think it would be perfect for daily use. It's separate compartments are handy and I also haven't had a bag with a long strap in a while, so I quite fancy one.

Next is this slinky number from Motel. I've had an eye out for dresses as party season is coming up and I haven't bought any partywear in aaages. This one caught my eye due to its gorgeous slip shape and the simplicity of the design. However the shininess of the material (which some may find gross but I think is 90s fabulous) keeps it from being boring. I think it will fit in nicely with my growing collection of LBDs.

The last item is this new season leather wallet from Saint Laurent. I know the colour is totally impractical but I think its stunning. The white with black detailing reminds me of the accessories in the LV Series 3 exhibition. I also really need a new purse as mine is on its last legs, and the Saint Laurent wallet has double the card slots, which as a self-confessed loyalty card hoarder is necessary.

Missguided Lingerie

The online fashion retailer Missguided has recently launched a lingerie line. The brand is known for on-trend affordable fashion and despite a delivery mishap once, I have loved all the products that I have bought. I was intrigued by the new collection so had to check it out and, naturally, a wish list has been building...
missguided, highstreet, online retailer, underwear, strappy, bra, thong, teddy

I think Missguided are onto something here. They're on trend with the use of eyelash lace, triangle bras and strappy detailing. I also love the colour palette of black, burgundy, blush, red and nude. I'm slightly put off by the models' seductive poses though... these are being sold to women - not men! The collection does need some tweaks though - perhaps slightly more affordable (it's overall price point is currently above most of it's competitors) and the quality is yet to be reviewed. Also I think there is space for more briefs - its a bit thong heavy. However there is great potential here and I can't wait to see what they release in the future.

Let me know what you think of the Missguided lingerie line and if you've picked up any bits.

A Girl's Guide to Grown Up Lingerie

I haven't done a lingerie post in a while so I was itching to write something on the subject. I am a self-confessed lingerie addict and the obsession started during secondary school, when I was in that awkward stage between a girl and a young woman. And I was particularly awkward indeed!

I wanted to graduate from pastel cotton panties and Angel bras into something more grown up. But I wasn't ready to jump into the g-string and super push-up bra category quite yet. Now don't get me wrong - this desire wasn't due to wanting to impress or seduce anyone - it was more to feel like my age and feel good about myself and my body.

As I got older I made little changes to my lingerie collection and took the chance to experiment. And yes, I have made a few lingerie faux pas in that time. I have developed a good knowledge within this area and now can manoeuvre the lingerie department with ease.

It's hard knowing where to begin as there are so many different styles out there so I've decided to break it down, starting with knickers.

1. Lady Pants
Think of these as a hybrid of boy pants and Brazilian knickers (see below). The boy pant shape has been cut a little higher (flattering those cheeks!) and comes in beautiful, feminine designs. I think they're best in a silky fabric, possibly printed, and edged with lace. In a nutshell, they provide coverage whilst being very pretty!
FLEUR DU MAL crocheted briefs  |  CALVIN KLEIN perfectly fit briefs  |  H&M lace hipster briefs  |  UO rose smoke knickers

2. Bikini/ Mini Knickers
Slightly smaller than the lady pants is the bikini style. Sometimes called mini knickers if they are lower cut but essentially the same style. I can guarantee that pretty much every lingerie brand/department/section will have plenty of these. These cover your bottom in a rounded shape (unlike the lady pants which tend to be more boxy) and the fabric is elasticated all the round the sides, with or without lace. Basically like a typical bikini bottom. You can't go wrong with a pair of these.
TOPSHOP mini knickers  |  L'AGENT mirabel briefs  |  STELLA McCARTNEY panelled mesh briefs  |  H&M navy briefs

3. Brazilian Knickers
These are super glamorous. Think of these as the stepping stone between knickers and thongs. They are pretty high cut and sheer lace is used to cover the remainder of the bottom. This style is timeless and classy... I can imagine an Old Hollywood starlet lounging round in a silk kimono and a pair of these.
TOPSHOP brazilian knickers  |  SIMONE PÉRÈLE lace briefs  |  LEPEL LONDON georgie brazilian  |  HEIDI KLUM lace thong

4. Flattering Thongs
Buying your first thong may be a little scary. But the number one rule to follow is: anything that looks like a capital T will flatten. So if you don't want that effect, don't risk the purchase. Thongs are great when wearing anything form-fitting, such as a tube skirt or skinny jeans. There's no risk of that awkward VPL. Also - provided you buy a good pair - thongs are actually super comfortable despite their appearance.
TEZENIS indie chic thong  |  LA PERLA tulle and neoprene thong  |  CALVIN KLEIN foil thong  |  HANKY PANKY emma thong

I have decided to cover bras in a separate post, so if you liked this keep an eye out for A Girl's Guide to Grown Up Lingerie: Part Two! Also let me know if you think I haven't covered something or you have any questions. I'd love to hear your opinion.

Remember: I've written this to inform about the different styles available and to encourage you to have fun with lingerie, but you should wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. No one should pressure you into wearing anything you don't want to.

TOPSHOP faux fur stole | NEW LOOK sunglasses (similar) | TOPSHOP earrings (similar) | MISSGUIDED bomber jacket | UO high neck crop top (similar) | H&M tube skirt | ADIDAS superstars

It has been raining a lot recently, so as soon as it dried up I jumped at the chance of a walk and taking some OOTD pics. However the wind made up for the lack of rain resulting in a multitude of images of my hair. Bloody English weather!

Anyway I wanted to show off my new faux fur stole, which I gushed about on my recent Topshop wish list. It's super warm and adds a bit of colour and glamour to my outfit. I paired it with my Missguided bomber (which I apparently never take off) and my Adidas superstars (ditto). The sunglasses and earrings up the glamour once more, and I opted for an all-black crop top and tube skirt duo as a dark background to the oxblood. And if you were wondering I'm wearing my trusty Rimmel x Kate Moss lipstick in the shade 107.

On a separate note, I have been thinking about writing a girl's guide to grown up lingerie. Like how to bridge the gap between basic and seductive and where to shop? Let me know your thoughts and if you would like to see that.

fall, autumn, winter, fashion, inspiration
I was browsing Pinterest yesterday and found myself pinning quite a few street style looks perfect for Autumn/Winter dressing. So I thought I'd share some of my findings in a blog post. Enjoy!

autumn winter, fall, fashion, blogger, roll neck jumper knitwear ankle boots
This look is everything. It lengthens the body beautifully and despite being a simple look, it has an element of glamour. I'm obsessed with turtle necks at the moment and those ankle boots are gorgeous. I might have to purchase a midi skirt once I finish writing this!

autumn fall winter fashion inspiration blogger clutch leather all balck
Obviously I had to include an all black ensemble! This look is made up of basics but the colour gives it an edge. Plus that slouchy leather clutch is right up my street.

autumn fall winter fashion inspiration duster coat cropped top
How to flash some skin in Autumn? Show off a sliver of your mid-section and plenty of ankle. Duster coats (or knitwear) keep you warm whilst adding a little drama to daywear.

fall autumn winter inspiration fashion blogger faux fur coat
Faux fur is always a good move for the colder months - even better in colour. I also like the play in textures with the addition of the suede handbag.
fall autumn winter fashion inspiration blogger leather jacket slip lace
This look screams effortless chic. The key is in the details - rolled up trouser cuffs, pushed up sleeves and last night's slip dress. I'd love to recreate this outfit.

fall winter autumn fashion blogger inspiration black jumper dress knitwear suede thigh high boots chanel bag
I adore thigh high boots and they always look best paired with 10 denier tights. A turtleneck knit dress keeps out the chill and all the better when accessorised with a teeny Chanel bag.

fall autumn winter fashion inspiration inspo blogger leather shearling jacket black rollneck jumper
I need a shearling leather jacket! This one is a gorgeous example and its styled with yet another roll neck jumper in the perfect shade of charcoal.

So the moral of the story for cold weather dressing is invest in good pair of jeans, a decent roll-neck and a leather jacket. And faux fur always helps.

TOPSHOP November Wish List

fashion blogger, lust, favourites, love, fur coat, stole, chain crossbody bag, metallic, earrings, accessories, patent sock boots, lingerie, lace, black

As I was compiling the items to feature in this month's wish list, I realised that the majority of them were Topshop. They are killing it this season. So I thought I would make the November wish list a Topshop special, hope you enjoy!

When I attended the Louis Vuitton Series 3 exhibition, I fell head over heels in love with this season's white fur coat. Unfortunately there were only 10 made in Europe, so you can guess the cost! That same day I visited the Oxford Street Topshop and discovered this coat. At £89 it's hardly a bargain but definitely within my reach. A purchase for next payday perhaps...

I really love metallic accessories at the moment. They were becoming popular in the summer, but I think they look even better against the dark colours of a winter outfit. This bag is perfect for nights out. Its the perfect compact size, is cross-body so your hands are free to carry drinks or dance the night away, and adds glitz to any outfit.

This faux fur stole is everything. My friend Freya pointed it out to me and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. Burgundy is perfect for this time of year and it will add a pop of colour and a bit of glamour to any ensemble. I have to get it!

Next is this pair of drop earrings, which have a modern vibe yet an aspect of twenties art deco. These would look amazing with a dress and an up-do. Perfect for winter parties.

I first saw these patent sock boots on Samantha Maria and they've been haunting me ever since! I just bought pointy patent brogues but I need these too! Black ankle boots are an autumn/winter staple and these are the perfect height and style for now.

And of course I had to include some lingerie. How beautiful is this velvet bra? I swore off Topshop bras after bad experience with underwiring (I still have a scar) but this one is a soft bra (and it's pretty). I'd wear it under my embellished sheer blouse and paired with a leather skirt.

What are you wishing for in November?

October Favourites

candle, peppermint tea, brogues, label maker, rimmel primer, lifestyle, blogger, fashion
October is at its close and I still don't have a Hallowe'en costume! I predict last minute shopping and fake blood. Anyway onto the products that I have been loving this month.

1. ASOS brogues
ASOS truffle patent leather black brogues, fashion blogger
I featured these shoes in my recent OOTD, and have adored wearing them this month. I love their polished look - I'm digging patent leather at the moment. I also like their pointy style, which give a powerful vibe. I also want pointy patent ankle boots which seem to pop up everywhere at the moment.

Maison ves primark candles scented coconut vanilla patchouli amber sexy man
It's become a house tradition to make a hot drink, flick on our fairy lights and light our candles when we get home from a long day at uni or work. I featured this gorgeous vanilla and coconut one in my home haul, and the Primark candle is a more recent purchase. I think its packaging is pretty sleek for Primarni and it smells like a sexy man so I was sold.

3. TWININGS & TESCO peppermint tea
peppermint tea, twinings tescos lifestyle blogger
The hot drink I was referring to above is 9 times out of 10 a peppermint tea. In fact I'm drinking a cup as I write this. I love it's clean, refreshing taste whilst being comforting. Speaking of clean, the tea has a single ingredient: peppermint, and is caffeine free - perfect before bed. I've included two versions that I drink - Tesco's own and Twinings. I bought the branded version to compare, and I found they were pretty similar. However for the same price, I can get double the amount of Tesco's tea than Twinings. I'm not paying for additional ingredients, just the brand. So I'm saving it for guests and I'm not likely to repurchase.

 4. DYMO label maker
Dymo label maker, retro, shabby chic, lifestyle blogger
The room I moved into came with an industrial filing cabinet, so I thought I'd embrace it and add a retro vibe with a label maker. I have gone a bit crazy with it, and have to rein myself back so I don't waste tape. I love its effect, and it looks great on my shabby chic drawers - I feel like a Pinterest goddess.

5. RIMMEL fix & perfect pro primer
Rimmel Fix and perfect pro primer, boots, drugstore, beauty blogger
You may have seen that I was on the market for a new drugstore primer in my September wish list. I thought I'd purchase the Garnier Perfect Blur but whilst in Boots I realised it was £13 for a tiny tube. So I moved onto Rimmel, and swatched the Fix and Perfect primer, applying a little concealer on top to see the effect. I was pretty happy so I decided to try it out at home. I have been wearing it every day since, I like it so much. It's a thick but blendable formula that smoothes the skin and makes my foundation last a lot longer - a godsend for long shifts or nights out.

6. MISSGUIDED bomber
Missguided black cropped bomber jacket, shirt dress, fashion blogger, high street
This bomber I featured in an outfit post this month and an OOTD in my post on Louis Vuitton Series 3. Off the blog I have been wearing it to death, as it is a perfect balance of smart casual. Plus despite being cropped, it's super warm and cosy which is why I reach for it on most occasions.

7. Bedtime Yoga
yoga with adriene youtube channel, bedtime, lifestyle blogger
As I am incredibly busy at the moment, I have been focusing on my sleep to ensure that I don't crash and burn. I've downloaded a Sleep Better app and try to avoid screens for half an hour before bed. Another tactic I've been trying is yoga. About an hour before bed I'll roll out my mat, stick YouTube on and watch a Yoga With Adriene video. My favourites at the moment are Day 1 of her 30 Days of Yoga series and her Bedtime Yoga sequence. It improves flexibility, stretches out my aching limbs and winds the body down for bed. I could fall asleep during the savasana at the end.
